Timothy Treadwell was an unusual person and failed actor who one day decided to reinvent himself as a ‘bear protector.’ Since then, for thirteen consecutive summers he journeyed to the Alaskan outback to live amongst the Grizzly bears he considered his soul mates. He would engage in dangerous interaction with these ferocious creatures and produce educational/activist films which eventually earned him enough fame to be interviewed by David Letterman.
Timothy would rarely bring companions on his long trips, but on the one that would go wrong he had brought along Amie Huguenard, his girlfriend who ironically was afraid of bears. On a windy October day in 2003, nearing the end of their trip, both Timothy and Amie were killed and eaten by a large male Grizzly while the camera recorded the grotesque sounds.
